moving to el paso

Hi. I’m considering taking a job in El Paso. I’m a young health professional, single and looking ahead to this possibility. Can anyone tell me what sort of city is El Paso? Is there a lot of crime? Where should I be looking for a rental property that is safe but not too expensive? My preference is always a neighborhood where I can walk to cafes, grocery store, movies and get around walking. I live in south Florida now and it’s impossible to walk anywhere because it’s all spread out so much. I also have a big black lab dog who is adorable and loveable.
